Turning within as the land heals

A few weeks ago, I went home to Alberta to visit family and harvest medicine. Before I even set out to harvest, I could feel that things were different, the land was aching, and couldn't give what it used to.

When I arrived at my sage patch, the plants were so small. I'd only ever seen the patch like that early in the season. I knew the land wouldn't be able to give enough sage to last the year. As I laid my offerings and prayed, I gave thanks to land for holding such medicine, to the spirit of the sage for growing, and promised not to take more than it could give. As I walked through the sage, I asked what we are meant to do without enough sage to last the year. The land told me that in this time of struggle and ache, it's time to turn within, to call upon our own medicine. The sage reminded me that whether it is with me physically, I can always call upon it's medicine and it will reach me from the ground in which it grows. I gave thanks to land, to the sage for all the medicine it shares, both physically and in spirit, and gathered 3 small bundles, all the land could give, to be cherished.
My invitation to you this season, in this time of ache and struggle, is to turn within. Everyone has medicine and you are your own greatest healer. It's time to lean in.
