Broadcloth is widely used in ceremony, offerings, and protocol. Each nation, lodge, and individual may work with different colours, but the most common colours to work with are the colours of the medicine wheel; red, white, yellow, and black, green or blue.

Broadcloth is used to wrap offerings, make tobacco ties, to line ceremonial toolboxes, as an offering of protocol to Elders and so much more.

Though all colours can be used, red broadcloth plays an essential role in ceremony as red is the colour of spirit.
